A fruitful and exciting research direction in theoretical high energy physics realizes interesting connections among string theories, supersymmetric gauge theories in various dimensions, and modern techniques in geometry and topology. While such relations have been known for a rather long time, a lot of progress has been made in the last few years in describing and analyzing supersymmetric gauge theories quantitatively. In particular, novel supersymmetric localization techniques offer methods to exactly compute partition and correlation functions in supersymmetric gauge theories. The functions derived in this way often enjoy far-reaching interpretations both in gauge and in string theory, describing wall-crossing phenomena, capturing quantum-corrected metrics of moduli spaces, or realizing gen erating functions of BPS invariants in string and/or gauge theory. Furthermore, such partition/correlation functions often exhibit non-trivial modular properties and/or capture indexes relevant in enumerative geometry. As a consequence, the obtained results offer intriguing and sometimes unexpected connections to aspects in algebraic and differential geometry, representation theory, and number theory.
The aim of this workshop is to bring together experts covering various aspects of this broad and even interdisciplinary topic, so as to share recent insights and to discuss the perspectives of this fast-developing research field.
The workshop is planned for two weeks from July 10 to July 22, 2017. The idea is to have about two talks a day (i.e., a total of twenty talks), such that there is sufficient time for private discussions and collaborations among the participants.
This program is supported jointly by CERN and by the Korean government as part of the CERN-Korea Collaboration.
Registration: The activities of the Institute are open to everyone. However attendance is limited so that there won't be more than 25-30 people being present at a given time. This is why application via this web site and approval is mandatory, the deadline being April 30.
Invited participants will be automatically approved. The remaining applicants will be reviewed early May and notified shortly thereafter.
We have booked 30 rooms at the hostel, please state your accommodation preferences when registering. There is no registration fee.
